Theatre Costume Design Instructor Organized Pet Fashion Show Fundraiser

Theatre Costume Design Instructor Julia Szkiba co-organized the recent Pet Fashion Project Fashion Show & Fundraiser with Colleen Wilson and Melissa Curtis of Pets on Q, an animal influencer management team that donates a portion of all its profits to help support shelters and rescue groups around the world.

Held at the Andaz West Hollywood, the Pet Fashion Project Fashion Show & Fundraiser featured a series of models who walked a red carpet runway in looks from emerging L.A. designers that coordinated with adoptable four-legged friends. Guests enjoyed refreshments and mingling with like-minded pet lovers at the fundraiser.

California Apparel News covered the charity event, which benefited a group of Los Angeles County animal rescue organizations, including Michaelson Found Animals Foundation, Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue, The Label Foundation, Road Dogs & Rescue, and Deity Animal Rescue.

Julia, who joined FIDM in 2018, is a Freelance Designer and Graphic Artist for Spot On Dog's licenses and private label clients, where she works on everything from pet apparel and toys to bedding, collars, and pet carrier totes. A lifelong lover of animals and fashion, she previously worked for the Disney Store Consumer Products Division, and has been on the steering committee for Actors & Others for Animals.
