Recent Social Media Grad is Offline Editor at Glossier

Prior to receiving a degree in Social Media in June of 2019, Sean Fitzgibbons (pictured, third from left) had already scored a job at Glossier, the billion dollar beauty brand. He, along with other members of the Glossier team, was recently photographed for an article on founder and CEO Emily Weiss in Vanity Fair.

Where were you born and raised? Barrington, Illinois, which is a small town about 45 minutes from downtown Chicago.

How did you discover FIDM? I knew that I wanted to move to a big city for school. I heard about FIDM through a friend of mine who is very into fashion and knew that it would be a great fit for me.

How did you come to work at Glossier? I had been a fan of Glossier for a while, and one day I randomly was looking on their career page and saw they were hiring at the LA store. I ended up starting in January 2019.

What is your current job title and day-to-day responsibilities? Offline Editor. We work in the LA space and basically are meant to be faces and advocates of the brand. A normal day consists of teaching lots of customers about the products, taking orders, packing orders in the back of house, and much more. I have recently been taking on lots of creative tasks in the store, so that consists of working on displays, and organization of the product.

What do you love about your job and why? I love working for this company because the entire team has a very family-like attitude. It is an accepting and inclusive brand. There are only two permanent store locations (one in LA, one in New York) so we get to be a part of lots of exciting things. I have made many wonderful connections from fellow Glossier editors in LA, to people working at Glossier HQ. I was even lucky enough to be featured in Vanity Fair with our CEO, which was the craziest feeling.

How did FIDM help prepare you for your position? My work at FIDM definitely helped me a lot with understanding the branding and marketing of Glossier and every single detail that has been put into it. A lot of my FIDM projects were actually researching Glossier before I had worked for them because I saw how wonderful their creative media was. Now working for them is a very cool, full circle feeling.

What are your ultimate career goals? An ultimate career goal of mine would be ending up on Glossier's creative team. I love the entire aesthetic of Glossier and would love to be more a part of the vision that goes into that.
