Meet Professional Studies Student Rachelle Ang
In September of 2017, Rachelle Ang graduated from the Advanced Study Program in Beauty Industry Management. Now, she's pursuing a BA degree in Professional Studies at FIDM (with a specialization in Beauty Industry Management) and will graduate in June 2018. We recently chatted with Rachelle to learn more about her time at FIDM.
Hometown: I was born and raised in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. Now, I am currently residing in Los Angeles, California.
Why did you initially choose the degree program in Beauty Industry Management? I chose to continue on to the Beauty Industry Management Program because of my big passion for the beauty industry and wanted to learn and get more experience about it.
What were you doing prior to FIDM? I was an assistant manager for my parents' business, doing freelance makeup on the side, as well as traveling and learning other cultures.
How did Beauty Industry Management help prepare you for your career and future? The program definitely helped me gain a deeper understanding of the industry. I also enjoyed making new friends and networking.
Did you work while pursuing your BIM degree? In 2017, I was interning for PRAVANA as a PR and Social Media Intern. I assisted the Public Relations and Digital departments in creating press releases, pitches, creative copy, and more. I did influencer research, compiled and maintained editorial calendars, assisted with mailings, created new and innovative ideas, and supported other departments with various tasks as needed.
What did you love about working at PRAVANA? I got to do a lot of fun creative stuff while learning at the same time. They challenged me to try new things I have never done before and I liked that. Being an intern for PRAVANA made me feel like family, so going to work was always exciting.
Where are you working now while pursuing your BA in Professional Studies? I just recently started a new internship at IBY Beauty as a Social Media Intern.
