Merchandising & Marketing Student is a Semi-Finalist in NRF's Next Generation Scholarship Contest

Merchandising & Marketing Student is a Semi-Finalist in NRF's Next Generation Scholarship Contest

Merchandising & Marketing student, Jordan Kwei Ming Hui, is one of 25 students chosen as a semi-finalist in the NRF's Next Generation Scholarship nationwide contest.

To challenge the 2019-2020 scholarship semi-finalists, the NRF Foundation collaborated with Gap Inc. to create a unique case study featuring the company’s menswear brand, Hill City, for the second phase of the scholarship. The 25 students will have the opportunity to engage directly with Gap Inc. executives to learn more about the brand and gain valuable insights about the business.

Next Generation Scholarship semi-finalists will research the Hill City brand, its existing strategies for customer acquisition, the evolution of customer experiences, and engagement. Based on their findings, each student is required to develop recommendations for a proposed growth strategy for Hill City over the next five years.

The students' performance on the case study will determine the five semi-finalists who will advance to the final round of the Next Generation Scholarship where they will interview in-person with the NRF Foundation Board of Directors. The winning recipient of the $25,000 education scholarship will be announced at the NRF Foundation Gala on January 12, 2020, in New York City.

The NRF Foundation Next Generation Scholarship is the pinnacle achievement for students interested in pursuing careers in retail. This opportunity was created for students of various academic backgrounds who have demonstrated leadership skills, previous retail experience, and a passion for making an impact.
