Grad Kristen McAtee Has More Than One Million Subscribers on YouTube

While studying Merchandising & Marketing at FIDM, Kristen McAtee started posting YouTube videos as a hobby, but it quickly turned into a full-time gig once she graduated in 2015. Today, 1.1 million subscribers follow her content, which includes humorous snippets of her friends, boyfriend, and dog, Link.

Kristen recently partnered with the Ad Council for a #BringGoodHome PSA campaign to coincide with National Thrift Shop Day and bring awareness to Goodwill's mission in creating employment and job training opportunities. In her Come Thrifting With Me! video, she shares tips and tricks for navigating a thrift store, revealing that she "thrifts almost everything" in her wardrobe.

"There's no duplicates, so when you get something, and you go home, or you go to school the next day, nobody has what you have," she said. "It just all around feels better." Kristen, who was most recently a US Wholesale Allocator at Ted Baker, tried on everything from a reversible faux fur jacket to an oversized baseball t-shirt.

In the video, she also discussed the amount of waste produced because of fast fashion. "I really like to try and thrift more," explained Kristen, who crops, distresses, and rips her thrift store finds. "Anytime you can reuse clothes and not feed into the demand of new things I think is a big step for humanity."
