Interior Design Grad Running Successful Firm in Orange County

Interior Design Grad Running Successful Firm in Orange County

FIDM Grad Marissa Guccione runs an interior design firm in Orange County. In our interview, find out more about her firm, and how she's achieved career success.

Tell us about Guccione Design ConceptsGuccione Design Concepts is an Orange County, California-based interior design firm. We love to unite unlikely styles in new, innovative ways that create one of a kind spaces that are sure to leave a lasting impression for years to come.

We hear that you work with a fellow FIDM Graduate. I hired Paige Younkin, who graduated in 2014, to be my co-designer. We actually grew up together, but reconnected at FIDM. Her style is so similar to mine and because we both received the same training, we work seamlessly. It is rare to find such a great asset such as her.

How did FIDM help prepare you to run your own business and be a successful designer? FIDM has given me so much. I had the initial drive to start my own business, but FIDM gave me the practical knowledge and overall resources to do so. The instructors were always so willing to answer any questions I had, so that helped immensely.

How would you describe your aesthetic/style? We have utilized so many different styles over the past couple years, but I guess I would have to say that we have created a very unique style that we refer to as California Farmhouse. We blend modern, transitional, rustic, coastal, and industrial to create an interesting look.

What are your ultimate career goals? If I could just do what I love, continue to grow my business, and work with people who share my passion, that would be a real dream come true. However, I think the ultimate goal for me would be to develop my own line of home decor items and materials.
