Anne Tran

Digital Designer, SmartyPants Vitamins

From Photoshop and Illustrator to InDesign, Anne Tran learned a valuable skill set while studying Graphic Design at FIDM. In addition to a busy career at SmartyPants Vitamins, she provides advertising designs for SmartyPants’ Amazon platform and video animation for Facebook ads. In her free time, she provides illustrations, logos, and business cards for freelance clients.

What does your job entail on a daily basis?
“My job on a daily basis consists of conceptualizing creative ad concepts for multiple mediums (web and mobile), designing and executing digital creative assets including, but not limited to, email marketing, digital advertising, websites, and display advertising formats on Google and/or Amazon platforms.”

What are some of the most important lessons you’ve learned since graduating?
“I’ve learned that you should always be kind. I’ve also learned that it’s okay to be yourself and have confidence. If you act knowledgeable and confident, you will eventually become what you’re pretending to be.”

Is there anything that surprised you about working in the industry?
“I've worked in the industry for eight years and I can say that I'm surprised how much the Graphic Designer role has changed. Now you need to know video, coding, UI/UX, etc. All I can say is: never stop learning because life never stops teaching.”

How did FIDM’s Graphic Design program prepare you for the environment that you are working in?
“I learned so much about Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, which enhanced my skills. I’m constantly working on several projects at a time, so the Graphic Design program taught me how to deal with deadlines. One of my instructors, Kevin Reagan, inspired me to always work hard and to never give up. He always motivated me to do well.”

What is the best part about your job?
“It's being surrounded by talented people. I love interacting with my colleagues because they’re so helpful and encouraging and you get to learn from different people.”
