Footwear Designer at Skechers

Fashion Design and Advanced Footwear Design & Development Graduate Lisi Wang is a Footwear Designer at Skechers, based in Manhattan Beach, California, where she works with her team and the CEO to create new and "trend right" footwear products to bring to the market. "I research the market, create designs, and then problem solve the entire way until the products ship from factories, " she says. "Every day is different. The constant evolution of the market keeps me on my toes, so nothing ever gets boring."

Prior to deciding to studying at FIDM, Lisi worked in consulting, project management, and manufacturing, but her real passion was for design and art. "Every day, I am grateful that I decided to pursue my dreams," she says. "I am working towards becoming a Senior Designer and successfully launch a new line that I have been working on. I wish to see more of my designs on consumers' feet."

Lisi says that FIDM's instructors, who offered advice and working knowledge of the industry, were instrumental in her success. "FIDM provided me with all the tools I needed to succeed in my career," she adds. "All the illustration classes were very valuable to me personally because they kept my artist and creative brain going. And the technical design classes provided the foundation I needed to become a designer."
