How did your advisor help with the process? Susan explained everything I needed to know such as the difference between Merchandise Marketing and Merchandise Product Development since I wasn't sure, and she gave a lot of good suggestions without any pushing. Besides her professional advice and help, she is the one who helped me build up my confidence.
Tell us a bit about yourself. My family has held a textile business since the very beginning of the fashion industry in my hometown. One of the most important decisions that I have made was pursuing higher education overseas. I graduated with a B.A degree in Fashion Design & Textile from LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore. After that, I worked for couture dresses company where I met with customers, designed, communicated with suppliers and couturiers, did fittings, merchandising, and more. I have my dream to fulfill and I realize I must keep learning. FIDM is the top choice for me.
What are your proudest accomplishments so far? My design was sponsored and shown in the Swarovski’s Design Exhibition in Singapore. My creation featured alongside renowned international designers including Georg Baldele, Hussein Chalayan, Jason Wu, and Prabal Gurung.
What made FIDM right for you? FIDM is WASC accredited and it provides a good environment, updated facilities, and expert instructors. Furthermore, FIDM doesn't just care about knowledge and theories but also the practical skills. FIDM firmly believes hands-on experience is an integral part of education. The Professional Designation degree will equip me with the knowledge and problem-solving skills necessary to become a well-trained and productive professional in tomorrow’s fashion world.
What are your career goals? To become a designer shop and fashion brand owner
What do you expect to learn at FIDM? I must learn a lot of practical skills, knowledge, and gain real world career experience that I can apply in the real fashion industry with my ideas and creativity. I am eager to improve my communication skills, networking skills, and time management while I study at FIDM.
