Many scholarships are determined through review of Admissions application materials. Certain competitive scholarships have additional requirements.


FIDM National Scholarship Competition

Win a Full Year of Tuition (High School Seniors, Graduates & College Transfers Only)

This scholarship for new students offers a full one-year scholarship to one student in each of the following eight categories:

  • Marketing Executive (Merchandising & Marketing, and Apparel Industry Management)
  • Interior Designer 
  • Graphic Designer 
  • Fashion Designer 
  • Visual Designer
  • Social Media Marketer 
  • Trend Forecaster (Merchandise Product Development and Apparel Industry Management)
  • Beauty Executive

Additionally, there are $5,000 scholarships awarded to three finalists in each category.

FIDM Fashion Club Scholarship Competition

High School Juniors & Seniors

  • Win a Full Year of Tuition (High School Juniors)

Any student member of an approved FIDM Fashion Club (Club President/Co-President/Active Member) is eligible to enter the FIDM Fashion Club Scholarship Competition in the spring of his/her junior and senior years.

  • One winner is selected from entrants in their junior year to receive a one-year full scholarship to attend FIDM after completing the senior year.
  • Additionally, two winners are selected from entrants in their senior year, and each winner receives a $5,000 scholarship.

California FCCLA Scholarship Competition

Win a Full Year of Tuition (High School Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors)

Two full one-year scholarships toward tuition, books, and most supplies are given to the First Place winners in Fashion Design and Interior Design, selected by FCCLA in their statewide (California) competition. The Interior Design competition may be entered by individuals as well as teams of two or three students. If a team wins the First Place Interior Design competition, the full-year tuition will be divided up evenly among the members of the winning team. This award amount is non-transferable among team members.

National FCCLA Scholarship Competition

Win a Full Year of Tuition (High School Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors)

First Place winners in the Senior and Occupational Divisions of the National Leadership Conference STAR events in Fashion Design and Fashion Construction are awarded a full one-year scholarship toward tuition, books, and most supplies.

First year only. Non-renewable.*

The GUESS Scholars Program

High School Seniors, Continuing FIDM Students

A full one-year scholarship toward tuition, books, and most supplies is awarded to a high school senior or a continuing FIDM student. Students majoring in Fashion Design, Fashion Knitwear Design, The Business of Denim, Design (from Fashion Design), or Professional Studies (from an Advanced Fashion Design program) are eligible to apply.  Learn More

FIDM Fashion Club Presidential Scholarship

(High School Juniors & Seniors)

This $6,000 scholarship opportunity is open to all Presidents and Co-Presidents of FIDM's official Fashion Clubs. To be eligible for this scholarship, the graduating President must hand the club over to a new President for the following school year. The deadline for seniors to complete their Fashion Club application is December 31. Learn more about this opportunity at FashionClub.com.

Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.*

FIDM Fashion Club Active Member Scholarship

(High School Juniors & Seniors)

Official FIDM Fashion Club student Active Members who have attended 7 or more FIDM Fashion Club meetings during the current academic year in which their FIDM Application is submitted are eligible to receive a $4,000 scholarship. Information is available at FashionClub.com.

Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies. *

FCCLA Member Scholarship

(High School Juniors & Seniors)

FCCLA students are eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship. Students who are FCCLA State Officers at the time of their acceptance to FIDM are eligible to receive an additional $1,500 scholarship.

Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.*

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

(College Transfers)

Phi Theta Kappa is the national honor society for Associate of Arts Degree granting colleges. Students who transfer to FIDM, having been a qualified Phi Theta Kappa member at a 2-year college, may receive a $3,000 scholarship toward their initial year at FIDM. Only students who come to FIDM with the Phi Theta Kappa designation achieved at their prior college are eligible for the award and the renewal possibilities.

Renewable for up to 4 years with qualified Phi Theta Kappa membership at FIDM and consecutive attendance.*

Academic Merit Scholarship

(High School Seniors, Graduates & College Transfers)

Students must demonstrate academic achievement (GPA and course rigor evaluation) through Admissions application materials. Additional essay required. Amounts vary.

Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.*

Artistic/Industry Merit Scholarship

(High School Seniors, Graduates & College Transfers)

Students with a minimum 2.75 GPA must demonstrate artistic achievement and/or demonstrate extensive industry background through Admissions application materials. Additional essay required. Amounts vary.

Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.*

FIDM College Transfer Merit Scholarship

(College Transfer Students only)

This scholarship opportunity is open to college transfer students (A.A. or higher) from a U.S. accredited college who demonstrate academic achievement through Admissions application materials Additional essay required. Amounts vary.

Available only to first-time FIDM Students transferring college course work into FIDM's A.A. Degree Program. Non-renewable*

FIDM Professional Designation Merit Scholarship

(College Graduates)

This scholarship opportunity is open to college graduates (A.A. or higher) from a U.S. accredited college who demonstrate academic achievement through Admissions application materials. Additional essay required. Amounts vary.

Available only to first-time FIDM Students attending FIDM's Professional Designation Program. Non-renewable.*

Junior Academic Merit Scholarship

(High School Juniors)

Academically qualified high school students who enroll during their junior year are eligible for scholarship consideration starting at $500 toward their first year at FIDM. Click here for information about the enrollment deadline and other exclusive benefits available to high school juniors.

Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.*

DECA Scholarship Competition

(High School Juniors & Seniors)

DECA students who are First Place winners in state competitions in the Apparel & Accessories Marketing and Fashion Merchandising Promotion Plan categories are eligible to receive a $3,000 scholarship towards their first year at FIDM.

Non-renewable.*

DECA students are eligible to receive an additional $1,000 scholarship. Students who are DECA State Officers at the time of their acceptance to FIDM are eligible to receive an additional $1,500 scholarship (see DECA Member Scholarship below).

Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.*

DECA Member Scholarship

(High School Juniors & Seniors)

DECA students are eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship. Students who are DECA State Officers at the time of their acceptance to FIDM are eligible to receive an additional $1,500 scholarship

Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.*

State FCCLA Scholarship Competition

(High School Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors)

First Place winners in the Senior and Occupational Divisions of the following FCCLA State Leadership Conference competition categories will be awarded a $3,000 scholarship toward their first year at FIDM: Fashion Design, Fashion Construction, and Recycle & Redesign.

Non-renewable.*

FCCLA students are eligible to receive an additional $1,000 scholarship. Students who are FCCLA State Officers at the time of their acceptance to FIDM are eligible to receive an additional $1,500 scholarship (FCCLA Member Scholarship).

Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.*

Nordstrom Fashion Ambassador Program Scholarship

(High School Seniors)

High School students who are members of the Nordstrom Fashion Ambassador Program in their senior year are eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship toward their first year at FIDM.

Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.*

SkillsUSA Scholarship

(High School Juniors & Seniors)

SkillsUSA students are eligible for scholarships in these State Conference competition categories: Advertising Design, Television (Video) Production, and Digital Cinema Production. Scholarships awarded in each category are as follows:

  • Gold Medalist (First Place) - $1500
  • Silver Medalist (Second Place) - $1000
  • Bronze Medalist (Third Place) - $500

In the case of Television (Video) Production, which may be entered by individual students or teams of two students, if a team of two students wins, both contestants are eligible to receive the scholarship. One scholarship per medalist level will be awarded in Advertising Design and Digital Cinema Production.

Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.*

California Academic Decathlon Scholarship

(High School Juniors & Seniors)

High School students who are members in their junior or senior year are eligible to receive $1,000.

Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.*

Art Education Partnership Scholarship

(High School Seniors)

High School students attending one of the following high schools are eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship.

  • Los Angeles: Ramon C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts
  • San Francisco: Oakland School for the Arts (OSA)
  • Orange County: Orange County High School of the Arts (OCHSA)
  • San Diego: School of Creative & Performing Arts (SCPA)

Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.*

FIDM Scholarship Foundation

The FIDM Scholarship Foundation provides scholarships for continuing FIDM Students who meet the special criteria of the Allocation Committee. Potential applicants must be entering their second year of studies and be recommended by their Student Advisor.

ROP/ROCP/Regional Occupational (Centers &) Programs and CTE/Career Technical Education Scholarship

(High School Juniors & Seniors)

A $1,000 scholarship is awarded to ROP/ROCP/CTE students toward their first year at FIDM when these two important qualifications are met: 

• The student's participation in the program must occur during his/her junior or senior year. 
• The student must complete the ROP/ROCP/CTE course, and the course must relate to one of FIDM's Majors. Such courses would include, but are not limited to: Computer Graphics, E-Marketing, Retail Merchandising/Sales, Marketing/Advertising, Business Management/Entrepreneurship, Fashion Design/Merchandising, Marketing/Advertising, and Video Production. 

Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance.*

FBLA Member Scholarship

(High School Juniors & Seniors)

FBLA students are eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship. Students who are FBLA State Officers at the time of their acceptance to FIDM are eligible to receive an additional $1,500 scholarship.

*Please Note: The scholarships listed above are subject to change. Some scholarships are awarded for the first year only. Many FIDM scholarships are renewable for up to 4 years by maintaining a GPA of 3.0 at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must reapply annually and be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books and supplies. In regards to any FIDM Scholarship Competitions offering full one-year scholarships, if a winner is eligible for additional FIDM scholarship(s), the amount of the full-year scholarship will be reduced by the amount of the additional FIDM scholarship(s). Further, if a student is eligible for federal or state grants or additional scholarships from other sources, the amount of the full scholarship applied to the student’s first academic year will be reduced by the amount of the additional grants and/or scholarships. The amount of the reduction, caused by federal or state grants, or additional scholarships from other sources, will be made available as a scholarship award in the student’s next academic year.

The student is responsible to pay Initial & Final Application fees. The scholarship amount may be disbursed in either one or more quarters to the student's FIDM account. The full, one-year scholarships include tuition, fees, books, and most supplies. The scholarship is applied to tuition and fees only and has no cash value. It can be applied only to FIDM tuition and fees that are charges in the student's name and while the student is in attendance. In order for scholarship recipients to use their award(s) at FIDM, they must plan to begin their studies at FIDM in the first or second academic quarter for which they are eligible following their graduation from high school. In addition, they must meet all Admissions Requirements, including a recommendation from their Admissions Advisor. Should a recipient take a Leave of Absence, change his/her major, withdraw from FIDM or return from academic dismissal, he or she is entitled to complete the remaining number of units of the original program to which he/she was accepted. Upon change or return, any additional units required for the current major beyond the original contract, will be charged to the student (subject to prevailing tuition costs at the time of change or return). Scholarships are non-transferable.
