The fashion community is embracing one of Pantone's 2016 colors—the soft pink called rose quartz—and carrying the trend into 2017. Referred to as Tumblr pink in the industry, the soft shade has been adopted by marketers for Calvin Klein, Acne, and popular beauty brand Glossier. Style setters tell Fashionista that the colors appeal right now is connected with its gender neutrality—unlike hot pink, it's a pink that men can embrace. Also known as salmon or blush, this softer, gentler shade is part of a bigger trend called "quietude," that is gaining traction according to international color trend forecaster Mark Woodman: "Lightness, sheerness, layering of these soft grey and off whites—it's a reaction to the endless stress, screaming politicians, and technology...I see a pink even softer and quieter than rose quartz coming up in 2017."
