How did your advisor help with the process? It was such a pleasure to work with Seung. Not only did she provide answers about any questions I had regarding the entirety of the application process and the events that followed, but she also helped my family as well, with any questions they had. Her communication was incredibly admirable and comforting so the 2,500-mile distance between us was never an issue.

Tell us a bit about yourself. I have been a member of my school’s cheerleading team for all four years of high school, as well as being captain my senior year, a member of my school’s music production club, and a leader of the literary magazine/creative writing club. Additionally, I have been a part of the arts program at my school where all of my classes are art-based. I have also modeled around Boston since I was 13, and in my free time, I love to travel, go to concerts, make videos, and apply make up.

What are your proudest accomplishments so far? I am especially proud of myself for becoming Miss Massachusetts Teen USA 2016, for the title comes as such a high honor and I could not be happier to represent my state, and be able to meet and work with so many different people.

What made FIDM right for you? FIDM had always been a school I knew I was going to apply to. On top of its impeccable reputation, the location is appealing, and I loved the idea of attending a school with a focus on the industry.

Describe your entrance project. I love to incorporate thematic elements into my designs; my entrance project draws nuances from the sci-fi thriller, Interstellar, a collection inspired by interplanetary travel, black holes, and other galaxies, utilizing its cool color palette and space metallics. I also constructed a holographic bikini, a snakeskin print dress, and faux leather crop top.

What are your career goals? My ultimate goal is to study in one of the most promising cities in the world and be absorbed in all it has to offer, then take what I gather from the city to bring it to the beach. I love both aspects: the lush, green tropics and the urban concrete maze. I wish to bridge the two into a cohesive swimwear label that has the dark powerful components of the metropolitan labyrinth, as well as the bare, minimalistic, and natural beauty of an island in the sun. My dream is to be in the industry as an independent, successful, and creative leader without limits.

What do you expect to learn at FIDM? I expect to learn the ins and outs of my major to prepare me to delve into the real world and begin a creative career in the fashion business. I know that should I enroll, I will come out with the education I need to thrive in the industry and have the necessary knowledge for success.
