Trendwatch: The Future of Sneakers

December 14, 2016

Does tying your shoes tire you out? How about figuring out your size for each brand? Problem solved. Sneaker giants Adidas and Nike are bringing to market tech sneakers that look a lot like Back to the Future. Adidas' Futurecraft sneakers (now available to the public) use 3D printing to mold a sole to the wearer based on data recorded by a treadmill; Nike's self-lacing HyperAdapt technology creates shoes that not only tie themselves, they mold to the wearer's foot thanks to special Flywire technology. The future is here people—especially if you live in special markets like New York where the latest sneaks are already in store.
