Students in the Premier Marketing Group (PMG) were recently treated to special visit from Alicia Buczek, Diane Von Furstenberg Sales Assistant at 10Eleven Showroom in downtown Los Angeles. Alicia graduated from FIDM in 2014 with her Merchandising & Marketing Professional Designation degree, and belonged to PMG as a student at FIDM.
Alicia told the students she likes working in wholesale much more than buying. She said she loves seeing how collections are developed each season. The warehouse for A.L.C., one of the lines they carry, is on Broadway in downtown—which makes it easier to give feedback to the designers.
There are many perks associated with her work. For one thing, travel is involved. In February, she attended New York Fashion Week to show their fall collection. She also gets inside tips on sample sales.
When asked why she thinks she was hired, she said she was always asking what they needed next. “You have to be a go-getter,” she said. “Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.” Her passion for wholesale went through the roof when she did her internship.
In addition to Diane Von Furstenberg and A.L.C, the 10Eleven Showroom carries ATM Anthony Thomas Melillo, Current Elliott, Equipment, Joie, Pam & Gela, Road To Awe (RTA), Saloni, Tanya Taylor, and Vince.
Alicia is the director of the internship program at 10Eleven. Sales assistant positions are available, and they are currently looking for summer interns.
