    Trendwatch: Pink Pops Up on Instagram

    Trend forecaster WGSN follows the current color story on Instagram, noting the importance of color for standing out in the crowded field of social media image-making. The forecaster points out a trend of hot pink as background "wall" in professional posts for brands as diverse as Old Navy, Starbucks, and Rent the Runway. The pink wall outside LA retailer Paul Smith caused a small tsunami of Instagram posts, and the rest is history, says WGSN. Another color trend on Instagram is monochromatic imagery, where a red jacket for instance is shown against a red wall, creating a quick flash of color that pops on the small mobile screen.
