Dr. Monica Carbajal is an organizational psychologist and educational consultant in addition to her work at FIDM. On any given week, she may be training elementary or high school teachers to integrate leadership into their curriculums, training employees in human resources and diversity management, or teaching at FIDM.
What classes do you teach?
Primarily I teach in the Business Management department. But I also teach in General Studies and Beauty Industry Management. My classes are often about leadership and social psychology.
Do you have a leadership philosophy?
Much of my leadership training is based on Dr. Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. I integrate these principles into my classes and empower my students to live the habits personally, professionally, and academically.
What about a philosophy of teaching?
It is the same as my mission statement: To inspire and be inspired. Education is reciprocal; my students and I transfer knowledge—they learn from me and I am always learning from them.
What do you enjoy most about teaching at FIDM?
The infinite level of creativity that our students excel at as evident in their own unique style is always inspiring. FIDM is a dynamic, motivating, and synergistic academic experience!
Monica Carbajal is an Outstanding Faculty Award Winner, an award given by the student body to outstanding faculty members.
