How did your new job come about? A recruiter reached out to me via LinkedIn and told me about a corporate position at Charming Charlie based in Houston, Texas. Charming Charlie is a company that I had always been interested in working for, and it is such a great opportunity to work at the fastest growing retailer in the world.
What are your responsibilities? I am an Allocation Analyst in the footwear department. Charming Charlie is a specialty retailer focusing on accessories where they merchandise the store by color. This creates a fun and easy shopping experience for every woman. Charming Charlie believes when it comes to accessories, “If it feels good, and if it looks good, do it in every color.” I work very closely with the planner and buyer to help analyze the business of almost 300 stores nationwide. I allocate merchandise to stores based on store plans and current business trends.
How do you feel FIDM helped prepare you for your career? The courses I took at FIDM allowed me to gain knowledge of the business side of the fashion industry. With the help of my Career Advisor, I was able to land great internships while in school that really gave me great experience in the industry. FIDM gave me the knowledge and experience I needed to succeed in such a competitive and exciting industry.
