I have been involved with music all my life—from playing keyboards and composing at 10 years old to recently working in the studio with electronic composer Michael Boddicker.”
Can you give us some highlights of working in the L.A. music industry?
In addition to working with Michael Boddicker, I’ve produced six songs for rapper Kool Keith and edited audio for two of the most downloaded audio books: Raising Atlantis and Atlantis Prophecy by Thomas Grenias. My album As Above So Below was nominated for best techno and my song “Liberte” won fifth place by the Just Plain Folks awards.
Describe a favorite class project.
Students always love my Sampling Safari. We go outside the classroom to record location sound effects and then we go back to the studio and design in Pro Tools.
What do you enjoy most about teaching at FIDM?
Interacting with the students and inspiring them to be their best while having fun.
What is your teaching philosophy?
I have a list I keep top of mind. The values can be boiled down to respecting and listening carefully to students; focussing on the positive even when delivering criticism; and trying always to break down complex concepts to simple steps.
