Fashion can be a challenging industry. FIDM is in the heart of it all, working and maintaining personal and professional connections.”

Why FIDM?
I was a career changer, with a Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences. Going to design school to do something I was completely passionate about was the best life decision I've made.

What is your current job title and where did you work before?
Product Development Manager, Fossil Leathers, Outlet. I held positions at St. John's Knits, Pacific Sunwear, and Billabong, before joining Fossil.

What does a Product Developer do?
I manage the development of all leathers and tech items from concept through production approvals. We work with overseas vendors to assure the samples, prints and materials follow the tech specs while meeting calendar milestones and margin goals. For me, it is the perfect blend of business and creative.

Looking back, what was the best part of your education?
FIDM provided the building blocks necessary to understand the process regardless of the product. The Career Center provided endless internship possibilities—important for testing classroom skills and networking. Alumni outreach is one of the main reasons I went to FIDM. It’s a resource for life.
