Goarik Manukyan

Faculty
Fashion Design

I love the environment at FIDM. It’s friendly and pleasant. The beautiful architecture and my colleagues and students make the school very special.”

This master craftswoman teaches patternmaking, draping, and sewing to aspiring fashion designers.

Can you describe your experience in the industry?
After graduating from university in Azerbaijan, I entered the industry and worked as a production patternmaker. During these years, I often received compliments on my clothing and so I started designing and making clothes for private clients. After emigrating to the U.S., I continued working in the industry as a production patternmaker, fashion designer, sample maker, and in quality control.

Do you have a favorite class project?
The ones I particularly enjoy are those requiring students to talk about their creations. I enjoy hearing the stories behind their inspirations.
