Designers & Books is a website dedicated to encouraging others to understand the relationship between designers and the books that have inspired them. To what schools of thought or beacons of inspiration do our favorite designers owe homage? On their ever growing list, you will find professionals in all fields of design sharing their favorite books. We learn that architect and industrial designer Norman Foster finds inspiration in "Invisible Cities," by Italo Calvino, as well as Dostoyevsky’s "Crime and Punishment." Fashion designer Christian Lacroix lists "Passages," a collection of photographs by Irving Penn, as a source of inspiration for him. Designers as diverse as architect Maya Lin and fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi all provide insight into their creative process by revealing what books have influenced their work.

Besides lists of inspirational books from 128 designers, the website also features a blog, lists of recently published "Notable Books," interviews with designers, and lists of relevant publishers and booksellers. Designers & Books is a fabulous resource for all who are interested in design and the creative process.
