How did your advisor help with the process? Cathy was one of the best college advisors I've ever met. She made me feel very welcome to the FIDM family. Moreover, she was very helpful throughout the process and always there to give inspirational advice and guidance.
Tell us a bit about yourself. Retail is my passion and I enjoy my job at OLD NAVY doing merchandising/visuals, providing excellent customer service to customers, coaching, and leading the team. One of my mentors and motivators is Emily Sim, one of the General Managers at OLD NAVY at GAP Inc. She is one of the best GMs at GAP Inc. who always challenges me to get better every time and guides me through the right way to success. My other mentors are my Department Specialists & Store Operations Manager at OLD NAVY #5536 who helped me boost my confidence and improve the skills I need in the retail industry. My hobbies and interest are collecting sneakers, shopping, traveling, hanging out with my best friends, and meeting new people.
What are your proudest accomplishments so far? From being a Seasonal Sale Associate to now a Team Leader/Coach and currently Employee of the Month.
What made FIDM right for you? I believe talent and intellect are born everywhere in this world, but the opportunity to develop them is not, and I think FIDM is the right school for me because it focuses on the real world fashion retail industry. FIDM has the key knowledge and power of what it takes to be dominant and successful in the big world of fashion retail industry.
Describe your entrance project. My entrance project is the OLD NAVY store. I started it with the history of GAP Inc. and how it evolved to be now one of the biggest retail corporations in the world. I also included the some of the trending merchandise that customers love to buy. At OLD NAVY, we do more than just selling clothes; we give back to the community by volunteering our free time to different organizations like Boys & Girls Clubs in the United States. And what separates us from other stores is at OLD NAVY #5536 we are a family--whatever we do we do it with passion. On the same token, we also believe that knowledge is power and a positive attitude is everything.
What are your career goals? My goal next year is to be the next Marketing Manager at the OLD NAVY store and to stay with GAP Inc. and take the knowledge and skills I will learn from FIDM and proudly and creatively apply it with GAP Inc. stores.
What do you expect to learn at FIDM? I expect that FIDM will help me improve my creative talent, leadership skills, communication skills, professional skills, merchandising skills, and most of the retail marketing/management skills that I need to be successful in the industry.
