How did your advisor help with the process? I had a very attentive and helpful advisor. I was lost on what major I’d excel most in, and she helped me find the one that suited me best. After her help, I felt more confident and secure going into my acceptance interview.
Tell us a bit about yourself. I grew up in a small beach city where the weather is always 70 degrees and above. Consequentially, I have always had a love for being outdoors. I was always the athletic type and played sports my entire life and am extremely competitive. I would always strive to be better than my siblings, especially since I was the youngest child.
What are your proudest accomplishments so far? When I decided to enroll in school again. I had a moment of clarity and realized I needed what I wanted instead of waiting for it to be handed to me. I learned a lot about myself during this time. I knew what I was doing at the moment was not what I wanted to be doing in five years. The lifestyle I want for myself and my future requires me to put in a lot of hard work, and I'm willing to do put in the work to achieve my goals.
What made FIDM right for you? When I visited FIDM back when I was in high school, I knew the college was something I could see myself being a part of, but I wasn't sure where I'd fit in. I tried out community college for a couple of years and it didn’t feel right; I had no inspiration to be there. FIDM, however, excited and motivated me. FIDM can help me get on the path I need for a successful future.
Describe your entrance project. My entrance project focused on a brand of designer denim jeans for the fall season. I included a lot of images of different women wearing the jeans but with different twists of style so all type of women could relate. I wanted to promote the jeans in a sense that the majority of women would find them tasteful and stylish. I displayed three different posts and tags on different formats of social media sites. The posts were intended to promote the business showing how the jeans are going to be a pair they needed to complete their ultimate fall look.
What do you expect to learn at FIDM? I expect to learn all the analytics and know the business behind social media. I want to use these tools with me later in life so I can eventually know how to help a business with their revenue or even run my own business one day. I expect that I’m going to learn so much through this journey as It will open new doors to me, and I might come across things that I never thought I’d be interested in.
