FIDM Scholarships

The subject of financial aid is one of great importance to many college students and their families.  We are committed to helping students seek out all the kinds of financial aid for which they may be eligible and can utilize towards their education at FIDM. Various scholarships are available to students who qualify, in addition to the loans and/or grants for which students/parents may be eligible.

Here is a review of the scholarships that FIDM currently offers:

Full-year Tuition
The largest and best known of our scholarships for new students. It offers a one-year full scholarship to one student in each of the following six categories: Fashion Executive of Tomorrow, Interior Designer of Tomorrow, Graphic Designer of Tomorrow, Fashion Designer of Tomorrow, Visual Designer of Tomorrow, and Digital Media Artist of Tomorrow.
   

Below are 12 more scholarship programs for which students may qualify.  Some scholarships are based on the student’s active participation in a designated High School organization.  Upon showing the appropriate documentation proving membership, students can have their Advisor include these scholarships in their tuition plan. The designated organizations and the amount of the awards are as follows:

DECA/DEX Distributive Education Clubs of America
$500
A $500 scholarship is available to members.
DECA - New York $1000 Students in New York are eligible receive an additional $500 scholarship, making a total of $1000 per student.
FBLA/Future Business Leaders of America $500 Students who are members of FBLA during their senior year are eligible to receive a $500 scholarship for their first year at FIDM.
FHA-HERO//Future Homemakers of America - Home Economics Related Occupations $500 A $500 scholarship for their first year at FIDM is awarded to high school students who are members in their senior year. In addition, two full one-year scholarships toward tuition, books, and most supplies are given to the winners selected by FHA-HERO in their statewide (California) competition.
FCCLA/Family, Career & Community Leaders of America $500 A $500 scholarship for their first year at FIDM is awarded to high school students who are members in their senior year.
California Academic Decathlon $1000 High School students who are members in their senior year are eligible to receive $1000 toward their first year at FIDM.
ROP/ROCP/Regional Occupational (Centers &) Programs $500 A $500 scholarship is awarded when these three important qualifications are met:
  • The student’s participation in the organization must occur during his/her senior year
  • The student must plan to begin college in the Summer or Fall quarter following graduation from high school.
  • The student must complete the ROP/ROCP course, and the course must relate to one of FIDM’s Majors.  Such courses would include, but are not limited to, Computer Graphics, E-Marketing, Retail Merchandising/Sales, Marketing/Advertising, Business Management/Entrepreneurship, Fashion Design/Merchandising, Marketing/Advertising, and Video Production.
Phi Theta Kappa $3000 Phi Theta Kappa is the national honor society for 2-year colleges.  Students who transfer to FIDM, having been a qualified Phi Theta Kappa member at another 2-year college, can receive a $3000 scholarship toward their initial year at FIDM.
Mentor Program $3000+ Students who attend the Business/Fashion Magnet High School in Los Angeles and are in the FIDM Mentor Program during their senior year are qualified to receive $3000 toward their first year and an additional $3000 toward their second year at FIDM.
Cotton Incorporated $5000+ First- and second-year students at FIDM are eligible to enter this scholarship competition. Four scholarships of $5,000 and one scholarship of $10,000 are awarded.
FashionClub.com $5000 - Full-year Tuition Any student of an approved FIDM Fashion Club Chapter (Club Leader/Club Member) is eligible to enter the FIDM Fashion Club Scholarship Competition in the spring of either their junior or senior year.

One winner is selected from entrants in their junior year to receive a one-year full scholarship to attend FIDM after their senior year.  Additionally, two winners are selected from entrants in their senior year, and each winner receives a $5000 scholarship.  Information about the scholarship competition is available in the Start Your Own Club section on FashionClub.com.
FIDM Fashion Club “Active Member” $500 Any student member of an official FIDM Fashion Club Chapter (Club Leader/Club Member) who has attended 8 or more FIDM Fashion Club meetings during the academic year in which the FIDM Application is submitted is eligible to receive a $500 scholarship. PromAdvice.com Full-year Tuition Students in their junior or senior year of high school are eligible to enter this scholarship competition. Two winners are selected to receive a one-year, full scholarship. Students can find information about the scholarship competition at PromAdvice.com.
