FIDM's chic annual "Chairing Styles" exhibition explores the relationship among three disciplines; furniture, fabric, and fashion. Students in FIDM's Interior Design and Fashion Design programs collaborate with manufacturers to produce a matching chair and clothing ensemble both made from the same upholstery fabric.

This year there were two exciting new developments: Cotton Board/Cotton, Inc. provided the fabrics used in the matching chair and clothing ensemble, and FIDM's Textile Design students joined the collaboration by creating the designs for those fabrics. "Chairing Styles" was unveiled at FIDM's "Debut 2007" Fashion Show & Gala Event at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, California. The unique exhibition went on to be part of the Pacific Design Center's "Westweek" design symposium and the "Avenue of Arts & Design Walk," both in West Hollywood, California.
