Jonathan Haggerty

Beadwork is Jonathan Haggerty’s specialty, and he demonstrated this with a collection of evening gowns studded with Swarovski crystals. In fact, Jonathan used his own initiative to convince the head of Swarovski, Nadia Swarovski, to donate all the crystals he used in his Debut 2005 collection. His fabrics included satin-faced silk organza, silk crepe, and embroidered stretch taffeta and he worked primarily in black, with appliqués, panels, and a stole of $3,000 dollars’ worth of antique Japanese obi silk that he picked up at a second-hand store for a song.
