FIDM Study Tour – Paris 2001

Parisian Dreams Come True for 24 FIDM Students
Each year FIDM students, escorted by instructors and administrators, have the opportunity to participate in a specialized study tour to Paris.
If you had your pick of fashionable cities to visit during the summer, where
would you go? Why, Paris, of course! Every year, FIDM students in all majors
do just that--they travel to the city of lights and explore the beating heart
of fashion. Oui, oui, it's a dream trip with three weeks of Parisian bliss!
This year's highlights?
The
group of 24 students toured the atelier of a well-known French fashion designer
and attended a fashion show. They visited a family-owned business that has
been handcrafting fabric flowers for couturiers since the 1800s. Students
from the Garden Design Program explored all kinds of gorgeous Parisian gardens
and found special inspiration in the famous water gardens at Monet's home
in Giverney.
This year, students on the tour were treated to the first annual "President's Luncheon" hosted by FIDM President Tonian Hohberg. Ms. Hohberg held an exquisite luncheon for students at Fouquets, a historic restaurant on the famous Champs Elyses.
Of course, no trip to Paris would be complete without museums, shows, shops, and restaurants. Students on the tour shopped some of the most fashionable thoroughfares in the world where they focused on lingerie design and marketing trends. They also went to the Louvre, the Picasso Museum, enjoyed a guided tour of the Orsay Museum, caught a ballet, and spent plenty of free time sight-seeing in Paris by day and night!
