Steve Pena
Steve Pena, FIDM Alum and entrepreneur, recognizes that a designer is most effective by knowing the fashion industry inside and out.
PAST: Starting his own junior line "VOODOO," a better priced specialty collection, Pena saw a bridge market developing in 1988 and created his own unique blend of lifestyle merchandising for the 16 to 35 year-old market.
During his experience, he realized the Juniors/Missy market was "a state of mind, not just a category". After testing his skill in designing a line for a specific market, Pena succeeded and made his next move to retail management. Involved in every facet from operations to buying and merchandise marketing, he ultimately was introduced to his current focus in design. While working in the Product Development department at TSE Cashmere, Pena silently honed his skills in developing his present and most rewarding phase of his career... Computer Graphics.
PRESENT: The big trend in computer graphics for the apparel industry is hugely evident to Pena, so he left TSE Cashmere in 1995 and has begun his newest venture, SPG - Steve Pena Graphics. Using all of his previous experience, Pena offers everything that an apparel company could possibly dream of in his single design house. Combining computer-generated apparel illustrations with logo and imprint finishes, Pena's direction is vast and deep.
FUTURE: Pena will continue to offer a wide variety of computer design
services to his large and satisfied clientele. His portfolio of services includes:
* Digital Technical Illustrations
* Digital Presentation Illustrations
* Business Presentation Boards
* Catalog Design and Page Layout
* Corporate/Identity Brand Logos
* Textile Design
* Imprint Design
* Embroidery Design
* Hang Tag Design
* Trim Design
PHILOSOPHY: "It takes a creative person to stay in the industry, but it takes an even more creative person to stay on top."
ADVICE: "Once you graduate, you need to focus on your field and learn as much as you can to make yourself more marketable. The industry does not come to you. You must go to it and make it work for you."
HEART: Pena is an active FIDM Alum and sponsor for the non-profit service organization founded by Kathy Ireland "Athletes and Entertainers for Kids."
