Careers After FIDM

The Digital Media Program provides students with a synergistic approach to modern technologies.  Throughout the program, students will acquire a fundamental understanding of the most commonly used applications in the industry today.  Students graduating from this program will be qualified to seek entry-level employment in: film & video production, character animation, game design, web design, DVD authoring, film & video editing, sound design, and visual effects, just to name a few.  The field of Digital Media is an explosive one.  At FIDM, students are trained on state-of-the-industry programs such as Final Cut Pro, Avid, Shake, Pro Tools, Motion, After Effects, and Maya.  Here is a partial list of careers in the field:

Visual Effects

Enter a 3D world.  Work with film/video; 3D and 2D compositing (VFX, 3D Elements over Live Footage), using Maya and Shake software.

Sound Designer / Effects Editor

Make some noise.  Use cutting edge technology and software to design sound and/or music for film and video.

Editor

Make the cut.  Create long- and short-format content incorporating sound, graphics, and video.  Use the latest, state-of-the-art nonlinear technology such as Avid or Final Cut Pro.

DVD Author

Create the ultimate DVD experience.  Design motion and still graphics for DVDs, develop layout for DVD screens, and incorporate graphics and media to create dynamic presentations.

3D Modeler / Animator

Create and animate.  Build 3D objects or characters for feature films such as Shrek, Spider Man, and The Hulk. Animation and 3D graphics skills are widely used in a number of industries including Architecture, Graphic Design, Web Design, Game Design, Film and Television, and Medical and Industrial Design.
