New Hampshire Teen Wins Mercedes-Benz Scholarship to Attend FIDM
I was literally jumping up and down with excitement!" said 18-year-old Bopha Sar about learning that she'd won the Mercedes-Benz DRIVE YOUR FUTURE Design Awards LA Scholarship to FIDM/The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. "I'm still in shock and excited about it."

Bopha, who'll begin studying Fashion Design in October, visited FIDM and took a tour of the campus, enjoying all the student work that was displayed as well as other FIDM trademarks such as the college's intimate class size and involved, dynamic faculty and staff. "Knowing that the class sizes will be small makes getting to know people and getting the help I need that much easier." She is looking forward to meeting her new classmates. "We'll share the same interests and dreams," she said.

Having visited Los Angeles on Spring Break during her Sophomore year of high school, Bopha "fell in love with the area and looked into L.A. for colleges." She added that she liked "knowing that FIDM is located near the Fashion industry and Hollywood."

"Watching Project Runway and finding out that some of their contestants graduated from FIDM," Bopha continued, "gave me the hope that my talents will get discovered, and I'll have the chance to make it out in the Fashion world."

Bopha also won a mentorship by FIDM Grad Kevan Hall, Designer of Red Carpet looks for Charlize Theron, Salma Hayak, and Mariah Carey and the "Mercedes Benz Presents" Designer for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Los Angeles.
